Step 1: Using a standard 8ft long two by four, measure a 10" section and cut the wood using a saw. You can also use precut wood if you prefer. |

Step 2: After the wood is cut, you will be left with a 10 inch long piece of 2x4 wood. |

Step 3: Gather wood boring drill bits in various sizes to drill out the holes to hold the lipstick tubes. In this tutorial, we used a 1", 3/4", 13/16", and 1/2" drill bits. |

Step 4: Using a power drill, drill out a variety of holes to fit your needs. You can create a unique pattern or keep the holes neatly aligned as shown to the left.

Step 5: Once the holes are drilled out, then you can decorate your lipstick holder however you like.
Using a wood craft paint, I decided to use a solid white coating to match my bathroom color scheme. |

Step 6: I found some self adhesive fabric tape at a local craft store that worked perfectly for this project...

Step 7: Attach your ribbon or continue decorating your lipstick holder as shown to the left. |

Step 8: Here is a zoomed in version of the side of my lipstick holder. |

Step 9: In this step, I simply added little paint decorations to spice up the overall look of my lipstick holder. |

Step 10: When the paint dries, you can begin using your new lipstick holder. Here is a photo of mine in my bathroom before I added a few lipstick tubes. |
Here's a photo of another lipstick holder I made that used dried flowers and then coated the entire lipstick holder with a clear acrylic paint...
