Step 1: Create a template for gift card holder. Trace onto cardstock. Utilizing a paper cutter and circle cutter, cut out cardstock holder. |
Here are the tools I used to create and cut out the template. |
Step 2: Trace holder onto backside of coordinating patterned paper. Cut out. Attach coordinating paper to cardstock utilizing spray adhesive or Xyron Machine. Trim any overage of paper to create even edges. |
Step 3: Trace the curved flap onto an additional coordinating piece of paper. Cut out and attach to holder flap. |
Step 4: Score holder using your paper trimmer or with a bone folder and ruler. Score along all flaps and crease well. |
After making the creases, your gift card holder will look like this. |
Step 5: Attach coordinating paper embellishment to top flap. Add piece of Velcro to upper flap and with the Velcro secured together, slowly lower and stick Velcro to the lower flap, thus closing the holder. |
Step 6: Re-open, add gift card and close. |

Here is a photo of the completed gift card holder from the outside.
This project is a great way to put extra care into a stereotypical "thoughtless" gift card. |
